During the week of Jan. 2-9, Police Service members answered 87 calls for service. Many of them were alcohol related.
On Jan. 2, police were called to a local apartment building to investigate possible narcotics usage. The matter is under investigation.
Police were called to investigate a complaint of a broken window on a school bus at St. Michael School on Jan. 3. The matter is under investigation.
Also, police were called to a complaint of possible mischief to a vehicle with spray foam. The matter was resolved without incident.
Police were called to investigate a harassment complaint on Jan. 4, and the matter is under investigation.
Police were called on Jan. 5 to investigate a complaint of harassment via posts being made on a Facebook page. The matter was resolved without further incident.
City police were called to investigate an assault complaint on Jan. 5. The matter was mediated and no charges were laid.
Police were called to a child custody dispute; the matter was resolved without incident, and the parties were advised to see their lawyers.
Police were called to investigate a hit and run accident on Jan. 6; the damage was minor and the matter is under investigation
The same day, police charged a local male with breaching his probation; he will be appearing in court in January.
On Jan. 7, police were called to investigate a complaint of bullying; the matter is under investigation.
City police were called to investigate a motor vehicle accident at Government Road and Souris Avenue. There were no injuries reported. Road conditions were a factor in the accident.
Two local young persons were arrested on Jan. 7 and charged with possessing small amounts of marijuana. Both will be appearing in court in February.
On Jan. 8, police were called to a domestic dispute in the city. The matter was resolved without incident.
Police attended a local bar to assist EMS; as a result two Weyburn males were arrested and charged with public intoxication.
Police were called to a motor vehicle accident on Railway Avenue on Jan. 9, where a vehicle struck a fire hydrant. Road conditions were a factor in the accident. No injuries were reported.
This past week several tickets were issued to drivers for talking or texting on their cell phones or electronic devices. Motorists are reminded that the use of electronic devices while driving is prohibited.
With the recent change in temperature and heavy snowfall drivers are again reminded to clear and scrape all windows and lights before driving. Tickets will be issued to those who drive with obstructed views.
