WEYBURN – The Weyburn Police Service responded to 69 calls for service during the week of January 24 to 30, resulting in five charges under the Criminal Code of Canada, four under the Traffic Safety Act, and one under the Summary Offences Procedure Act.
Officers received a report of a suspicious male seen carrying a large sword on Friday evening. Officers located the adult male and took him into custody as he was found to have an outstanding warrant from another agency. The male was released with an upcoming court date in the jurisdiction of the agency holding the warrant.
On Wednesday afternoon, officers arrested an adult male found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The male was released with an upcoming court date in the jurisdiction of the agency holding the warrant.
On Thursday, officers received a report of a hit and run that occurred to a parked vehicle on King Street. The vehicle sustained damage to its driver’s side. If anyone witnessed this incident, or has information that would assist in identifying the offending vehicle or driver, they are asked to contact the Weyburn Police Service.
Also on Thursday, officers attended a reported disturbance in a public place between two young females. One of the females was found to have an outstanding warrant for her arrest and was dealt with accordingly, being arrested and released with an upcoming court date.
Early Friday evening, one traffic stop led to two adults being charged with failing to comply with conditions of their release, while another traffic stop led to the driver being charged with impaired driving. These individuals were dealt with accordingly and all have upcoming court dates.
Officers also responded to a variety of other calls including domestic disturbances, noise complaints, requests for wellbeing checks, mental health concerns, alarms, and other traffic related matters.
