Weyburn Ag Society hosts Interclub 4-H Show, achievement days

A number of Weyburn area 4-H clubs held their Club Achievement Days in the Souris Valley Industries Show and Sale Arena over the weekend prior to the Interclub Regional 4-H Show.

WEYBURN – A number of Weyburn area 4-H clubs held their Club Achievement Days in the Souris Valley Industries Show and Sale Arena over the weekend prior to the Interclub Regional 4-H Show that began Sunday, and will run through to Wednesday.

Fair Days officially kicked off with a movie in the Exhibition Hall on Saturday evening, with a showing of The Super Mario Bros Movie

Prior to the start of the movie, the Weyburn Agricultural Society unveiled the sign to commemorate the trees that were planted on the grounds for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The Light Horse 4-H show was held on Sunday morning in the rodeo arena. The show featured events such as showmanship, western pleasure, barrel racing and more.

Light horse member Emma Winter was awarded the John and Virginia Myers Memorial Trophy for Sportsmanship at the conclusion of the show.

The Weyburn Interclub 4-H Beef Show began on Monday morning at Weyburn Agricultural Society’s Fair Days. All the action for the Interclub 4-H Beef show kicked off at the Souris Valley Industries Show and Sale Arena with the weighing of the market steers first thing, followed by the Judging Classes, the Showmanship Classes, and Team Grooming competition.

After the Interclub classes have wrapped up for the day, the Weyburn Agricultural Society will be holding a qualifying Regional 4-H Judging Competition. The top Qualifiers from this regional competition will move on to the provincial judging competition that will be hosted in Weyburn later this summer.

The interclub 4-H Steer Show will be held on Tuesday, with the crowning of the Grand Champion and Reserve Champion. The Female 4-H Show will go on Wednesday morning, and the sale of 4-H steers and heifers to be held on Wednesday afternoon to wrap up the regional 4-H show.
