WEYBURN - Kate Goranson received the Governor General's Medal from Principal Ryan Fowler of the Weyburn Comprehensive School today. Traditionally, every year the Weyburn Comprehensive School awards the Governor General's Medal to whichever graduating student has the highest average.

This award is given out at every academic facility in Canada to whichever student has the highest average and is considered to be a very prestigious award.

Kate Goranson was the 2020-2021 recipient of the Governor General's Medal.

She is now attending her first year of post-secondary education at the University of Saskatoon.

The Governor General's medal was first awarded back in 1873 by the Earl of Differin and has since become one of the most sought after and prestigious awards at any Canadian educational institution.
