Two youths charged for crime spree

Two 14-year-old boys from Estevan face a number of charges for a recent crime spree.

Two 14-year-old boys from Estevan face a number of charges for a recent crime spree.

The Estevan Police Service announced Tuesday they have charged the teens, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, with three counts of arson, four counts of mischief and one count of theft. One of the males was also charged with breaching the conditions of probation from a previous incident.

The arson charges stem from two intentionally set fires on Monday. The first fire at a residence on King Street caused damage to a garage and fence. The second fire, which occurred Monday afternoon at a home on Abbott Bay, destroyed three golf carts and caused damage to a storage shed and a fence.

The mischief charges came after three separate complaints to the EPS. Damage was reportedly done to the Estevan Shoppers Mall, Park Place apartment building and a fence owned by the City of Estevan.

Both youths were expected to make their first court appearance in Carlyle Wednesday morning.
