A tanker truck carrying hydrochloric acid rolled north of Estevan Monday morning but fortunately none of the hazardous chemical spilled from the hauler.
The members of the Estevan Fire Rescue Service and RCMP both attended to the accident that occurred on a grid road 10 kilometres north of Estevan, just after the truck had turned off Highway 47.
According to reports at the scene, the tanker contained just a small amount of hydrochloric acid. After ensuring that none of the chemical had spilled, the members of the fire department called for a picker truck, which was used to place the vehicle back on its wheels. After righting the truck, crews then offloaded the acid into another truck which was brought to the scene.
The driver of the vehicle was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with a back injury and was expected to spend at least one night in hospital.
