WEYBURN – Weyburn’s Heritage Village will be bustling with people and activities on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 6 and 7.
The Heritage Village Days event promises several activities to reconnect people with the past, showing in the various houses and buildings how pioneer families lived in the Weyburn area a century and more ago.
An entertainment stage will be set up with local performers bringing their talents for everyone to enjoy, plus there will be children’s activities and a treasure hunt.
All of the buildings will be open for people tour through, with many of the houses being the actual residences for area families, filled with historical and family memorabilia.
The Heritage Village Days will start with opening ceremonies on Friday at 11:30 a.m., and the entertainment stage will feature performances from Lexie Mainil, Lindsey Bell and Alfredo Aguiar-Marquez.
On Saturday, the stage will feature Kacy Byrns, Larika Van Der Meulen and James Dion.
Demonstrations from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday will include rope-making, ice cream and butter making, an outdoor oven, rides on the historic fire truck, a steam engine demo, blacksmithing and trapping and fur showing.
A rug-making demo will be held on Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and a sheep herding demo with trained dogs will be shown on Friday from 5 to 5:30 p.m.
In addition, there will be local baking for sale, a concession will be available and there will be children’s games.
