Â鶹´«Ã½AV Sask Ready Partnership wins SMA Regional Cooperation award

The Â鶹´«Ã½AV Saskatchewan Ready Partnership have innovated their communities with projects that promote cooperation and synergy.

ASSINIBOIA - An innovative project by the Â鶹´«Ã½AV Saskatchewan Ready Partnership was recognized in the 15th annual Saskatchewan Municipal Awards. The Saskatchewan Municipal Awards celebrate the excellent and innovative practices of Saskatchewan’s municipal governments. This year’s winners have innovated their communities with projects that promote cooperation and synergy.

The Â鶹´«Ã½AV Saskatchewan Ready Partnership consists of the RMs of Poplar Valley No. 12, Hart Butte No. 11, Willow Bunch No. 42, Bengough No. 40, and Happy Valley No.10 and the Towns of Rockglen, Willow Bunch, Bengough and Coronach.

Together they created an action team to find ways and funding to diversify the local economy and mitigate the impact of the transition away from coal fired power dependence. They received the award at the SUMA and SARM convention for their respective towns and RMs.

The Jean Louis Legare Regional Park Expansion Project (RM of Willow Bunch No. 42 and Town of Willow Bunch) also won third place at the awards. Their winning practice was undertaking a water and sewer project to support the expansion of the local regional park and enhance tourism and economic opportunities for Willow Bunch and the surrounding region.

The awards committee is made up of partners from the SARM, Municipalities of Saskatchewan New North, the Rural Municipal Administrators’ Association of Saskatchewan (RMAA), the Urban Municipal Administrator Association of Saskatchewan (UMAAS), and the Ministry of Government Relations.
