It was a busy weekend for members of the Estevan Police Service (EPS), according to information released from their office Monday morning.
EPS members reported that on Friday evening, they were required to respond to a domestic dispute that resulted in a 55-year-old Estevan man being arrested for being intoxicated in public. He was lodged in cells overnight.
A call from a local lounge that same evening resulted in another man being arrested for being intoxicated in public. The 27-year-old subject was taken into custody and it was learned that he had been released earlier on the condition that he not consume alcohol. The man was therefore charged with being in breach of his court-ordered conditions under the Criminal Code.
On Saturday night, police were required to respond to several calls at a local lounge where requests were being made for assistance in controlling intoxicated people who were causing problems and fighting. As a result of these responses, six people were arrested for being intoxicated in public and for causing a disturbance by fighting. All were released the following morning.
During the course of the evening, EPS members again arrested the 27-year-old man who they had charged on Friday night for being in breach of his court ordered conditions to not consume alcohol. Since the conditions had spelled out that he was not to consume liquor or enter a licensed liquor outlet, he was arrested again and taken into custody and once again charged with being in breach of the conditions.
On Oct. 22, EPS members arrested a 58-year-old Lebret man for impaired driving and driving while his blood-alcohol level was over .08 per cent.
On Sunday, Oct. 23, EPS members arrested a 55-year-old Estevan man for driving while impaired and for driving while over .08. The arrest was made after police received a call regarding a vehicle that was hung up on parking blocks near a local business. The accused was observed in the vehicle attempting to drive away from the scene but being unable to do so because the vehicle was suspended on the cement blocks. The driver was arrested and lodged in cells pending a Monday morning court appearance.
