Significant alcohol seizure at Wollaston Lake

A boat was stopped after arriving from Barge Landing and docking at the Hatchet Lake Dene Nation near the community of Wollaston Lake on the morning of August 16.

A boat was stopped after arriving from Barge Landing and docking at the Hatchet Lake Dene Nation near the community of Wollaston Lake on the morning of August 16.

An investigation revealed a large amount of alcohol may have been on board for potential resale within the reserve.

Barge Landing provides a link between Saskatchewan Highway #905 and the community of Wollaston Lake.

There were four adults on the boat. A substantial amount of alcohol was located and seized during the search, where 58 bottles of hard liquor were discovered, along with additional bottles and cans of liquor.

All four adults were charged with the following: sell or offer to sell, display or keep beverage alcohol, under Sec. 138(1) of the Alcohol and Gaming Regulations Act.

They will appear in court in Wollaston Lake on October 14, 2020.
