REGINA — The provincial government has appointed a new provincial archivist to lead operations at the Provincial Archives, to continue offering direction to the archives moving forward.

Carol Radford-Grant will take over the mantle from previous archivist Linda McIntyre, who took the position in 2009. Radford-Grant comes to Saskatchewan from Ontario with plenty of experience, including tenure as the city archivist for the City of Toronto since 2012.

She also worked as a regulatory records specialist for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, the Archives of Ontario and the Ontario College of Teachers.

"I am looking forward to working with the staff and Board of the Saskatchewan Archives to advance awareness of archives in the community and in government," said Radford-Grant. "We also plan to address the future needs of the Provincial Archives."

Radford-Grant will now oversee the archives, which works to collect and preserve public records of historical value and make them accessible to the public.

The Board of Directors for the Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan said they are excited about the decision to bring Radford-Grant onto the team.

"The board believes Ms. Radford-Grant has the necessary vision, knowledge and innovative skills to lead the Provincial Archives and manage the institution in an ever-changing operating environment," said board chair Dr. Louise Greenberg.

The Provincial Archives just opened a new reading room space on Broad Street in Regina, welcoming visitors by appointment to view records and offer reference services.

Radford-Grant said she hopes to continue furthering the Archives and addressing it's needs for the future.
