REGINA — More international trade offices will be opening in the next year, said the provincial government, after the successful expansion of offices during the last budget.
Saskatchewan currently operates trade and investment offices in Tokyo, New Delhi, and Singapore, which opened in January of 2021, as well as in Shanghai, China, operating since 2010.
New offices will be opening overseas in London, Dubai, Mexico City and Ho Chi Minh City, sometime in the 2021-22 fiscal year.
"These new offices will help us continue this economic growth and strengthen our international relationships," said Trade and Export Development Minister Jeremy Harrison.
Harrison said the offices are anticipated to aid the province’s growth plan goal of increasing value of exports by 50 percent, reach $16 billion in capital investment by 2030, create 100,000 new jobs and grow the number of international markets that Saskatchewan exports to annually.
The new offices will expand the global network of priority markets for Saskatchewan, and the process to recruit managing directors is already underway.
