ROCANVILLE — The last time Rocanville Town Council had curling equipment on their agenda, it was decided to hold off on any decision until the next community meeting, which will take place sometime in February. However, at the regular meeting on Dec. 4, the equipment issue returned — this time with a decision.
“It was decided we are going to keep our rocks and sell all the other equipment and contact the people that had already contacted us about purchasing them,” explained Administrator Tanya Strandlund.
With interest in curling waning in Rocanville, the town has found itself in a precarious situation regarding the sport. The town’s curling rink has been converted to a community centre.
“We don’t want to fully commit to there not being curling in the future in town,” Strandlund said. “We’re not shutting that door completely, but not opening it either.”
Flower quote received
The town is planning to enhance beautification efforts with some flower pots and hanging plant features for Main Street next summer. The project will be an item in the 2025 budget.
“We’re just waiting for final numbers next meeting, then we’ll decide on a colour scheme that we want to go with,” Strandlund said.
During last week’s meeting, council received a quote from Cornucopia Gardens to review.
Building permit approved
Council received a building permit for 318 Carlton Street that proposed a small addition. Council approved the item.
Signing authority
Since Rocanville has a new Deputy Mayor, council authorized Stan Langley to have signing authority.
