REGINA — Regina police have arrested two individuals for the attempted theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle parked in a business compound in the northeast side of the city.
Police interrupted the two suspects during an attempted theft at approximately 12:30 p.m. on March 4, in the parking lot of a business in the 200 block of East 1st Avenue.
The patrol members were in the area, where there are many compounds, as part of a plan to check on businesses for signs of unlawful entry, said police.
An officer noticed the lot had been entered and upon investigation, found two men underneath a moving truck on the premises.
They were reportedly in possession of tools that could remove a catalytic converter from a vehicle.
Police took one of the individuals into custody without incident, while the other fled on foot and was later apprehended by a canine team.
One 37-year-old man and one 52-year-old man, both of Regina, have been jointly charged with attempted theft.
Both accused made their first provincial court appearance on these charges on March 4.
