Regina man faces robbery charge after hitting cyclist

Police say suspect allegedly stole vehicle.

REGINA – An early morning car vs cyclist collision soon proved to be more than it initially appeared.

Police responded to the call at around 4:30 a.m. on June 15 where a car had hit a cyclist on the 1000 block of Robinson Street.

"When officers arrived, they located a male victim walking down the street who said his car had been stolen," said RPS in a media release. "Information provided to police stated that a suspect male had threatened the victim, entered the victim’s vehicle, drove away and struck a cyclist."

While EMS and police were on scene, they could not find the cyclist, but the suspect was discovered in a home nearby.

"Police also located the stolen vehicle parked in the 1000 block of Robinson Street," RPS said.

Dreden Cliffton George, 20, was charged with robbery, and made his first appearance in Regina Provincial Court yesterday.

Anyone with information that can assist the further investigation on this matter can contact RPS at (306) 777-6500 or Regina Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
