REGINA — Update: March 1 at 11:45 a.m.: Regina police have determined that the investigation into the discovery of an deceased individual found inside a burning home last Thursday is not of a criminal nature.
Through investigation with the Saskatchewan Coroner's Service, police have confirmed the identity of the deceased male and clarified the circumstances of his death, which do not appear to have a criminal aspect. The victim's next of kin have been notified, but the individual's name has not been released.
Investigation into the incident continues, said police.

Feb. 28 at 6 p.m.: A multi-agency investigation is underway after Regina emergency services discovered a deceased individual in a house on fire last week.
Members of the Regina Police Service were dispatched in the early morning on Feb. 24 to assist Regina Fire Services at a residence on the 2700 block of 10th Avenue that was on fire.
While police performed traffic control and confirmed the safety of neighbours, fire members worked to extinguish the home.
After arriving, officers were informed that a deceased individual had been located inside the residence, at which time they secured the scene and a coroner was called to assist.
Investigators are still working to confirm the identity of the deceased, who is believed to be an adult male, and to determine the cause of the fire and the circumstances of the deceased’s death.
