Rainbow colours painted in downtown Weyburn for Pride Week

Members of the Weyburn Arts Council, along with volunteers from CUPE and the community, painted rainbow colours on the crosswalks downtown on Saturday evening.

WEYBURN – Members of the Weyburn Arts Council, along with volunteers from CUPE and the community, painted rainbow colours on the crosswalks downtown at the intersection of Third Street and Coteau Avenue on Saturday evening, as a kickoff to Pride Week in Weyburn.

The Arts Council was approved for the painting by city council, and council also officially proclaimed Pride Week at a recent meeting. The paint for this project is being provided by CUPE Local 90.

A session in Pride print-making will be held on June 5 at the Credit Union Spark Centre from 5-7 p.m.

A “Kindness Rocks” class, Pride edition, will be held on Tuesday, June 6 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Weyburn Public Library.

A class in macramé rainbow will held on June 7 at the Collabartive Studios downtown, from 5-8 p.m. with Knotty Pine Macramé.

You can make your own Pride pronoun button at the library on Thursday, June 8 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

A class in beaded Pride keychains will be held on Friday, June 9 at the CU Spark Centre from 5-7 p.m. In addition, take-and-make kits for this project will be available from the Weyburn Public Library.

The final activity for the week will be the showing of three short documentary films, along with desserts, on Saturday, June 10 at 2 p.m. at the Weyburn Public Library. The desserts are being supplied by Â鶹´«Ã½AVeast Newcomer Services.
