The Quota Club of Estevan held its inaugural Santa Parade last weekend.

It wasn't a huge parade by any measure, but what it lacked in entries, it more than made up for in enthusiasm among the participants as the Estevan Quota Club's Santa Parade entrants wended their way through the central core of the city Saturday afternoon.

"There aren't that many entries, but you have to start somewhere," said Stacey Drebnicki, Quota Club president and parade organizer. "We did the organizing on short notice," she added, noting that was the big factor in holding the entry list down to between 15 and 20 official floats or individual parade participants.

Santa showed up for sure, and that was the important thing and the weather was nearly perfect with temperatures holding near zero degrees with only a light breeze, which made the candy gathering chore a pretty easy one for the youngsters who lined the parade route to watch the colourful horse and wagons, floats and the star of the show, Santa.

Drebnicki hinted that this year's parade could well be the first of what the club hoped will be an annual event to help the community celebrate this special time of the year.

Quota is a female-based service club that engages in a number of community activities and events, many of them organized by their members, with all funds raised being directed back into the community.
