Local co-operative Access Communications will head to the streets on Halloween night to conduct their annual children's safety program - the Pumpkin Patrol. Between 6 and 9 p.m. on Sunday, October 31, Access Communications' service vans, will be out patrolling the streets as a safe contact in case any children need help while trick-or-treating.
With the distinctive signs and flashing orange pumpkin on the roof, the vehicles are easily spotted and are recognized as a welcome sight in neighborhoods across the province.
Pumpkin Patrol drivers, which are volunteer Access staff members, are in direct contact with the local police or RCMP dispatch in order to quickly report any incidents and ask for support if needed.
Children are encouraged to wave at the vehicles should they need help in any way on Halloween evening.
