The provincial election campaign is now officially underway, after Premier Brad Wall visited Lieut.-Governor Gordon Barnhart on Monday to dissolve the Legislature, and to issue the writ of election.

Unlike in previous elections, the voting day was set after the last election in 2007, to take place on Monday, Nov. 7, after the government promised to have set election dates and end the practice of playing games with the election call.

At dissolution, the Saskatchewan Party had 38 seats and the NDP 20 as the official Opposition.

In the Weyburn-Big Muddy constituency, so far there are two declared candidates, the incumbent MLA Dustin Duncan of the Sask Party, and Ken Kessler of the NDP.

The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce will be holding an all-candidates forum on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Comp Cafetorium.
