Police warn residents to use caution along river

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for week of April 18 to 24:*On April 24, police officers stopped a fight outside a local bar. A man was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and charged under the local fighting bylaw.

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for week of April 18 to 24:*On April 24, police officers stopped a fight outside a local bar. A man was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and charged under the local fighting bylaw.*Police responded to a disturbance between two men at a residence on Third Avenue Â鶹´«Ã½AV. Prior to police arrival, the house had been damaged and one of the men drove his car in pursuit of the other man.

Charges of Break and Enter, Mischief and Assault were laid as a result of the confrontation. Alcohol and drugs contributed to the occurrence.*On April 23, in the early morning hours, an unknown intoxicated male tried to enter a house on McKinnon Bay. After a short physical confrontation with the resident of the home, the man fled on foot.

*On April 22, several younger children were observed playing along the river bank near Government Road. Residents are urged to use caution along the swift flowing river and educate their children about the dangers of playing along the bank.

*On April 21, police responded to a noisy party. Several young people attending the party ended up fighting out on the street. Later that evening, a vehicle parked on the street in the area was vandalized.*Police investigated an Internet scam complaint. A citizen was being solicited to send a large amount of money to assist a family member who was allegedly in legal trouble. Police are asking that these requests be reported locally and to Phone Busters.

*On April 20, police assistance was requested at the Weyburn General Hospital to help control an intoxicated patient who had arrived at emergency after being involved in an ATV accident.*On April 19, police attended to a large construction business to investigate fuel being stolen from several of the trucks.*The Police Service attended 99 calls for service during this reporting period, this included five reported incidents of vandalism and theft from vehicles. Police want to remind residents to lock their vehicles and remove valuable contents.
