Police respond to drivers behaving badly

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of March 14 to 20: *On March 20, police responded to a domestic dispute. A male was arrested for assault and removed from the residence. He was lodged in cells and released later that day.

*On March 20, police responded to a domestic dispute. A male was arrested for assault and removed from the residence. He was lodged in cells and released later that day.

*On March 19, police responded to a noisy party complaint. A male was yelling at passersby, for which he was arrested and taken to police cells. He was charged with resisting arrest.

*On March 18, after police responded to a domestic dispute, one of the parties ran away upon their arrival. A male was located a short time later and was lodged in cells for being intoxicated in public.

*A vehicle was damaged in a hit and run accident when it was struck in the front bumper, pushing the vehicle approximately 15 feet from where it was parked. The suspect reported the accident the following morning and was charged for failing to notify the property owner of damage to his vehicle.

*On March 17, police investigated a theft from a personal bank account. The suspect used the victims ATM card and withdrew funds. Two charges of theft under $5,000 were laid.

*On March 16, police received a call about a vehicle driving erratically and splashing people as it drove by them. A charge of splashing a pedestrian is pending.

*The driver of a vehicle that was stopped for a crossing guard holding a stop sign near an elementary school reported that a second vehicle passed it on the right. Police were unable to locate the suspect vehicle but wish to remind motorists to obey crossing guards in school zones.

*On March 15, police attended an accident at the Fifth Street and Coteau Avenue intersection. An east bound vehicle on Coteau Avenue failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with a south bound vehicle on Fifth Street. The driver of the east bound vehicle was charged for failing to stop at the stop sign.

*On March 14, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at a local grocery store. A female was arrested and charged for theft under $5,000.

*There were five residential and one commercial alarm reported this week. A total of 89 calls for service were received during this reporting period.
