Police mediate harassment between youths

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of April 11 to 17: *During the early morning hours of April 17, police attended to a local liquor establishment. An intoxicated male subject was removed from the establishment. No charges were laid.

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of April 11 to 17:

*During the early morning hours of April 17, police attended to a local liquor establishment. An intoxicated male subject was removed from the establishment. No charges were laid.

*Around 6 a.m., police attended to the sudden death of a 68-year-old male.

*On April 16, police responded to a call of a domestic disturbance. Two female subjects were mediated without charges.

*In the early morning hours of April 15, police were called to assist the RCMP with a vehicle roll over between Yellow Grass and McTaggart. The accident is still under investigation.

*During the early morning hours of April 14, police were called to assist the EMS with a possible overdose. A 48-year-old female was taken to the Weyburn General Hospital by EMS.

*At about 3 a.m., police responded to a complaint of a house being egged. No suspects were located. With the summer months approaching there will be more foot traffic and police are asking residents to report any suspicious persons or behavior to help reduce these types of behaviour.

*In the early morning hours of April 13, police stopped an erratic driver. As a result, a 41-year-old female was charged with refusal of a breath demand. She will appear in court on May 3.

*Police responded to an accident at the intersection of Highway 39 and Government Road at about 12 p.m. Minor injuries were reported, however, no charges were laid as a result of the accident.

*Police dealt with two female youths that were harassing each other via texting and Facebook. The situation was mediated and no charges were laid in the matter.

*At 7:30 p.m., a report of a motor vehicle and pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of Government Road and Prairie Avenue. The accident is still under investigation.

*On April 12, damage was reported to a local church parking lot. The matter is still under investigation.

*On April 11, police attended to the Weyburn Junior High School to deal with two male youths threatening each other. The matter was mediated without charges being laid.

*Police responded to a total of 92 complaints during this reporting period, including several hit and run accidents and numerous parking complaints. Police also did several cyber bullying presentations and DARE lectures as well as handing out a number of "Positive" tickets, a new initiative of the Weyburn Police Service meant to encourage youth to be a positive influence on their community and foster a positive relationship with police.
