Police charge young offender with sexual assault

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the period of November 7 to 14:

*On November 14, police arrested and charged a Yellow Grass male with impaired driving and driving while over .08.

*As a result of a traffic stop on November 13, a Weyburn male was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer and refusing an approved screening device demand. He will appear in provincial court in November.

*As a result of a complaint, a female from Pangman was arrested and charged with impaired driving and driving while over .08. She will be appearing in court in December.

*On November 12, police were called to a disturbance at a local bar where two males were charged under the local fighting bylaw.

*Police were called to investigate a theft of a vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered and the suspect was charged with impaired driving, refusing a breath test and possessing a weapon.

*On November 11, police were called to a local hotel to investigate a theft of two televisions and bedding from rooms. The televisions are Philips brand and the suspects used phony names and contact information when registering. The matter is under investigation.

*On November 9, police were called to a report of a found young child. It was determined that the child had wandered away from home and was later reunited with its parents.

*Police attended a motor vehicle accident at 16th Street and First Avenue North. One driver was charged with leaving a stop sign before safe and failing to comply with a license restriction.

*On November 8, police were called to a complaint of sexual assault. As a result of the investigation, a Weyburn young offender male was charged with sexual assault, assault and uttering threats.

*Police were called to investigate a report of a missing youth. The youth was later located by police.

*The Weyburn Police Service is requesting information regarding the damage reported on November 7 to the Cenotaph in Memorial Park. Information can be passed on to police or by calling Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

*Police Service members were dispatched to 81 calls for service during this reporting period, many of them alcohol related. Recently, there has been an increase in property damage complaints. Residents are encouraged to report any information or suspicious activity to police or Crime Stoppers.
