Plenty of Halloween activities in Estevan this year

Check out the list of Halloween activities 2023.

ESTEVAN — Local residents who are looking for something to do in advance of or during Halloween will have plenty of options this year.

The Â鶹´«Ã½AVern Plains Co-op is scheduled to host its Trail of Terror on Friday night. It's one of the most popular Halloween events of the year, attracting thousands of people to the Preddy Trails for a free event. The event is proceeding despite the snowstorm that dumped heavy snow on Estevan on Wednesday.

People will gather at Rotary Hall for kids' games, hotdogs, drinks, a photo booth and more. A portion of the trail will be decorated, and people will venture out for a walk with zombies, ghosts and other scary creatures.

The weather has necessitated some scheduling changes, so the Trail of Terror will run from 5-6 p.m. for a family-friendly/less scary session, and 6:30-8 p.m. for the scary varsion.

Also prior to Halloween, the Estevan Downtown Business Association is going to have Trick or treat on Fourth and Fifth Street from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Oct. 28 Each participating downtown location will be handing out candy to children under the age of 12 that are dressed in their Halloween costumes.

Children are encouraged to use a special Halloween activity sheet and get each of the 14 participating downtown locations to stamp it. Once complete, the kids should sign their names and drop off the sheet at A&A Jewellery to be entered to win the grand prize.

The City of Estevan and Tourism Estevan are hosting its inaugural accessible trick-or-treating event, Spooktacular Treats for All on Oct. 28 from noon-2 p.m.

The event is geared towards families with accessibility and other issues. Groups and members of the community will have treats available at their booths, along with some sensory-friendly activities.

The Souris Valley Museum will host its Spooky Museum on Oct. 28 from 1-4 p.m. People are encouraged to don their costumes for some family Halloween fun with body stencils, cotton candy, a spooky schoolhouse and crafts and activities with special guests.

Partners on the event are the Estevan Early Years Family Resource Centre, Settlement Workers in Schools Estevan Area Literacy Group and the Estevan Public Library. They will all have a table and a Halloween activity at Spooky Museum.

Spruce Ridge School in Estevan will have a haunted house on Oct. 30 from 6:15-8:15 p.m., with proceeds from the event going towards a Grade 8 ski trip.

Then on Halloween, the Estevan Public Library will have a couple of activities. The first will be Halloween at the Library with SWIS, running from 4-8 p.m. The other will be teen Fear Factor at 6:30 p.m.

Eerie Affinity will happen at Affinity Place starting at 5 p.m. The "little scares" will be 5-6:30 p.m., and the "big scares" will be 7:30-9:30 p.m. A variety of props will be set up at the events centre in an effort to spook people. A non-perishable food donation would be appreciated for a free entry to the event.

The Estevan Art Gallery and Museum has also been hosting a series of events including craft nights and family workshops to allow people to express their creativity.
