ESTEVAN - It's been a memorable day in Estevan, as Brayden Pachal brought the Stanley Cup to the Energy City.
Pachal is a defenceman for the Stanley Cup-champion Vegas Golden Knights, and as such he gets to spend a day with the iconic NHL trophy during the league's offseason. He chose to bring the grail to his hometown of Estevan, giving the public the chance to see the trophy.
The Cup arrived in Estevan Sunday morning. A short parade was held in the vicinity of the Estevan Leisure Centre's parking lot. Pachal hoisted the Stanley Cup several times to the delight of the cheering fans.
Then he carried the Stanley Cup into Affinity Place for an autograph session. A massive crowd lined the majority of Affinity Place's concourse to greet Pachal and get his autograph.
A barbecue and a public skate around the Affinity Place ice surface are among the other highlights happening Sunday.
