Estevan's newest piece of public art will provide some variety to the city's rapidly growing outdoor collection.

Three metal statues, which are located on grounds of St. Joseph's Hospital, were officially dedicated during a brief ceremony last Wednesday. Two of the statues depict people riding bicycles while the other is of children at play. Leslie Padwick, chairwoman of the Estevan Beautification Committee, said the statues fit in with the group's Pure Energy theme.

"We wanted to do something fun and whimsical," said Padwick.

Weyburn artist Mike Beaudoin created the three pieces of art for the committee and Padwick said Beaudoin has another project which will be unveiled in the spring.

She also thanked Normand Poirier and Bob O'Connor of St. Joseph's for allowing the committee to place the statues on their property as well as Turnbull Excavating for the installation of the works.
