The new Poplar Tree Inn had their official grand opening on Sat. Sept. 18th. Many people came out to see the ribbon cutting ceremony, tour the hotel and enjoy a free hotdog with drinks and chips.
In attendance was some of the shareholders, including Don Sangster who spoke to the crowd about the four and a half million project that is now complete and open for business. The three story hotel has a total of 43 guest rooms, including three for handicapped, and a one bedroom suite. All of the rooms either have a king size bed or two queens, complete with a bar fridge, microwave, coffee maker and blow dryer, and 32# flat screen tv's, all with internet connections!! There is also an exercise room, and a conferrence and a business room.
The well appointed rooms are luxurous and guests will be pleasantly surprised to find such quality accomodation for a small Sask. town.
A free continental breakfast of coffee, juice, waffles, toast, yogurt and muffins is offered to all of the guests in a private dining room adjacent to the front desk, with a large screen tv and gas fireplace.
The architect who designed this hotel, Harry J. Jedlic came from Regina for the opening. Long time residents of Stoughton will remember the Jedlic family, owners of a successful and popular meat market in town for a number of years.
The hotel property was purchased from Maple Wind Development, Ron and Eslie Jacobs and is located at the intersections of highways #47, 13 and 33.
Danielle Hoffman (who recently moved to Stoughton with her husband) has been hired to manage the hotel. She is very capable with many years experience in the hospitality business. The hotel has created 16 new jobs .
Congratulations to the shareholders who had this vision and saw it to completion making Stoughton a destination point for travellers and people employed in the area who require accomodation.
