MOSSBANK — Good news travels fast. When Gary Woit of Mossbank found out he had won a million dollars, he returned home from checking his ticket to find the news was had almost preceeded him.
“Before I could finish telling my neighbour, she received a text from her daughter saying that I’d won,” Woit laughed. “The news spread around in three minutes!”
He is now looking forward to the chance to see football in Vegas; something he can definitely do now that he’s $1 million richer after the May 31 Lotto Max draw.
The evening of the draw, Woit picked up his Lotto Max tickets from the Safeway Fuel Station at 200 1st Ave. NW in Moose Jaw.
When he scanned his ticket using the self-checker the following day, he couldn’t believe his eyes! He won $1 million by exactly matching all seven numbers to one of the Maxmillions drawn on the May 31 draw: 14, 18, 20, 28, 31, 32 and 37.
After scanning it a few more times, Woit still couldn’t believe it, so for good measure, he brought it up to the cashier to validate.
“I was kind of numb,” he said. “I was feeling pretty overwhelmed.”
Besides taking a trip south to watch some major league sports, the Mossbank resident is still thinking of what to do with his windfall.
