WEYBURN - City dignitaries and representatives of the Métis Nation of Saskatchewan Weyburn Local 87 gathered at a flag-raising ceremony held at Weyburn City Hall on Tuesday morning.
Mayor Marcel Roy and Dixie Metz, vice-president of Weyburn Local 87 of the Métis Nation of Saskatchewan, raised the flag of the Métis Nation at Weyburn City Hall on Tuesday morning. Mayor Roy also signed a proclamation, declaring Sept. 3-9 as Métis Nation of Saskatchewan – Weyburn Local 87 Week in Weyburn.

The proclamation declared that the Métis Nation-Saskatchewan (MN-S) is a government that represents Métis citizens in Saskatchewan. The Métis Nation Legislative Assembly is the governing authority of MN-S, made up of the presidents of Métis Locals, and the Provincial Métis Council.
The MNLA has the authority to enact legislation, regulations, rules and resolutions governing the affairs and conduct of the Métis in Saskatchewan.
The MN-S Weyburn Local 87 wants to create awareness about the local organization, and is encouraging citizens to participate.
