REGINA - Out of town drivers hoping to use Lewvan Drive as a shortcut when they come to Regina are going to be out of luck this month.
Two major street renewal projects have begun along north and south Lewvan Drive. According to a City of Regina news release, these projects are estimated at $.5 million and "will improve drainage, extend the lifecycle of the road and create a smoother driving experience.".
North Lewvan Drive - Sherwood Drive to 1st Avenue North
This project is expected to take two weeks and includes milling and paving both sides of the road. Two-way traffic will be maintained in the opposite lanes at all times.

This will be done in two phases, with each phase taking two weeks to complete:
- Phase One: Concrete work will take place to relocate the turning bay into Regina Airport to improve driver safety and traffic flow.
- Northbound Lewvan traffic cannot turn left into the airport at Regina Avenue. Alternate access to the airport is detoured to 13th Avenue and Sandra Schmirler Way. Watch for signs.
- Â鶹´«Ã½AVbound Lewvan Drive access into the airport will be maintained.
- Phase Two: Later in June, paving work will happen in the southbound lanes to resurface the road.
- Two-way traffic will be maintained in the northbound lane at all times.
The City of Regina will advise residents of restrictions as the work progresses, and they thank residents for their understanding and patience.
