Local principal named as new vice-president of SE College

Â鶹´«Ã½AVeast College announced that Dean Loberg has been selected as the new Vice President, Academic and Teaching and Learning.

Dean Loberg is currently principal of St. Michael School in Weyburn, and will start his new position with SE College on July 4.

WEYBURN – Â鶹´«Ã½AVeast College announced that Dean Loberg has been selected as the new Vice President, Academic and Teaching and Learning. Dean will begin his new role on July 4, 2023.

Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Loberg has been an educator for over 17 years, including most recently serving as the principal of St. Michael School in Weyburn.

He has had the pleasure of working in the K-12 system in Public, Catholic and First Nations systems, as well as working in post-secondary education for both Sask Polytech and the University of Regina. He has spent much of his career working on educational technology, change management and leadership.

In addition to knowing the southeast corner of the province, Dean has many connections locally, provincially, and internationally. Through his work with Indigenous communities as well as newcomers, he has developed an appreciation for the diversity and traditions of the region’s communities.

Â鶹´«Ã½AVeast College's President and CEO, Dr. Vicky Roy, said, “Loberg’s experience in K-12 and postsecondary education makes him an ideal candidate for this strategic academic position. Having a background in educational technology and a deep understanding of the Saskatchewan education system, he will be a valuable addition to the College’s vision of becoming more responsive to partners and communities in the region. With his knowledge of the southeast Saskatchewan region, Dean will be a valuable addition to the College’s leadership team. The College, the executive team, and the communities we serve will all greatly benefit from his experience.”
