WEYBURN – Saskatchewan’s Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty will be visiting Weyburn on Saturday, June 25, as part of a celebration of the 70th year of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, hosted by Weyburn Tourism.
The event will be held at the Soo Line Historical Museum, and will showcase the Charlie Wilson Silver Collection, known as the world’s largest privately held silver collection.
The day is being organized by Weyburn Tourism, and will kick off with a pancake breakfast on the grounds, with bouncy houses to be available, and Lt-Gov. Mirasty will be at the museum by 2 p.m.
A high tea will be held around 2:45 p.m., open to everyone who would like to attend.
Part of his visit will be a tour of the museum, highlighting the silver collection.
“He’s excited to see it,” said Larry Heggs of Weyburn Tourism, adding that the aim of this event is to promote this world-class collection of silver along with marking the Queen’s Jubilee year.
“We want to make it a day for the entire family,” said Heggs.
Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne on Feb. 6, 1952, and there are events and celebrations planned throughout the year by the Commonwealth nations.
