The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce's 2011 annual general meeting and President's Dinner will be held on Friday, March 11, at 6 p.m. in McKenna Hall. The dinner this year will feature best-selling author and broadcaster John Gormley as he talks about New Saskatchewan and how great it is to live, work and do business in this province.

In addition to Gormley's speech, the winner of the Golden Spike Award will also be awarded during the course of the evening. The Golden Spike Award goes to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the community through his or her volunteer services over the years. Deadline for nominations for the award is Tuesday, March 8. Nomination forms can be found on the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce website or picked up from the Chamber office.

Seats for the President's Dinner tend to sell out quickly so it is advised to reserve seats as soon as possible.

Another upcoming event from the Chamber is a luncheon presented with Weyburn-Big Muddy MLA, Environment minister and minister responsible for SaskEnergy, Dustin Duncan speaking. Duncan will be touching on the new technology for the energy sector in North America that is being tested right here in Saskatchewan. The luncheon will be held on Friday, Feb. 4, at noon in the El Rancho banquet room. To reserve a seat at this free event, contact the Chamber office.

On Thursday, Feb. 10, at 7:30 a.m., the Chamber will be hosting a meeting in the El Rancho banquet room about establishing an employee ownership program. This initiative is sponsored by Enterprise Saskatchewan and provides opportunities for Saskatchewan businesses to access ESOP development support services from Saskatchewan Economic Development Association on behalf of the province. Tickets are $10. To reserve a seat in this meeting, contact the Chamber office.
