An alert resident who challenged a home invader, managed to save his flat screen television last Wednesday night.

Estevan Police Service (EPS) reported that at about 9:45 p.m. on Nov. 3, a city resident was awakened by some noise in his home. When he went to investigate the source of the noise, he found a man in the home attempting to unhook a flat screen television.

The resident engaged in a short struggle with the intruder who managed to escape.

The ensuing investigation, which is ongoing, suggests that nothing else was taken from the home.

On that same day, EPS members responded to one call regarding an erratic driver on the south side of the city who could not be tracked down, one noisy party that required a warning being issued to the home owner, one fight outside a local motel, and the arrest and lodging of two men who were picked up for being intoxicated in public.

On Nov. 4, EPS members attended to one motor vehicle accident that did not involve any injuries.

On Nov. 5, Estevan police were called to attend to a local lounge where it was reported that two subjects had left without paying their tab.

A video surveillance recording photographed the subjects and the matter remains under investigation.

A third person who had also been involved in the original incident paid his bill after police arrived on the scene. Charges against the other two non-paying patrons are pending.

Police were asked to return to the same lounge a short time later in response to a fight that was in progress. The matter was resolved upon police arrival and one person was given a ride home where he spent the rest of the evening so no further police action was deemed necessary.

On the night of Nov. 5, EPS received a report of a missing 13-year-old boy who had not been seen since 1 o'clock that afternoon. However, before police got actively engaged in a search, the parents located the boy and the matter was concluded.

A 30-year-old man was charged with impaired driving and driving while his blood-alcohol level was over .08 per cent following a traffic stop in the central part of the city. The driver now has a Dec. 6 court date.

On the night of Nov. 6, EPS members arrested two subjects who were acting suspiciously around the Civic Auditorium. The two who were together at the time, attempted to hide from police but were unsuccessful in their game of hide-and-seek.
It was determined that both people were extremely intoxicated so they were taken into custody and lodged in cells until sober.

A complaint of harassment was received by EPS members that same night. The matter is being investigated.
