A 43-year-old Estevan man was charged with impaired driving and driving while his blood-alcohol level was over .08 per cent on Nov. 23 after Estevan Police Service (EPS) members observed his erratic driving actions on Kensington Avenue. The driver now has a Jan. 12 court date.
A woman was reported being assaulted during a domestic dispute on the night of Nov. 25 which resulted in the arrest of a 57-year-old man who now faces assault charges when he appears in court on Jan. 16.
EPS members were asked to check on three suspicious people who were seen sleeping in the lobby of a north central business on the night of Nov. 25. This matter remains under investigation.
There were two reports of theft of gasoline on Nov. 25 as well. One took place on the south side when a subject who had filled up his vehicle learned that his credit or access card did not function for payment. He promised to return with cash, but did not do so. The second theft of gas was done through the perpetrator gaining access to a fuel card or a code number which then yielded the gas that was stolen.
Two individuals engaged in a dispute in the central part of the city on the night of Nov. 25 resulted in their removal from the area by police.
A slip tank was reported stolen from the box of a half-ton truck on the night of Nov. 25. The vehicle had been parked in a hotel parking lot on the east side of the city. The tank was believed to be full of fuel at the time.
That same night, another truck was vandalized by being keyed while parked at an apartment complex in the central part of the city.
There was a hit-and-run incident to investigate on Nov. 26. The vehicle damaged in the incident had been parked near a business in the central part of the city.
EPS members were also asked to begin an investigation into a theft from a vehicle which was parked at the residence in the southern area of the city. A number of items were taken from the vehicle.
A northwest area residence that had been the victim of several acts of mischief and vandalism was struck again on Nov. 26 when the house was egged by passing vandals.
A truck was reported stolen from a north central area of the city on Nov. 26. The vehicle had been taken from the parking lot sometime during the night.
EPS members also checked into a reported theft of a leather jacket and a security key to an apartment complex on Nov. 26. Police located the suspect who convinced them that he had returned the items in question.
Another theft of some vehicle camera equipment from a half-ton truck was reported to police Nov. 26.
A vehicle that had just hit the ditch on the night of Nov. 26 attracted police attention. The incident occurred on the south side of the city. The female driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving and driving while over .08. She has a Jan. 23 court date.
Police also stopped a vehicle that had expired licence plates. During the routine check, police administered a roadside breathalyzer test which led to further official tests that resulted in the driver being charged with impaired driving and driving while over. 08. He also has a Jan. 23 court date.
Responding to a call regarding a domestic dispute in progress, EPS members attended to a local mobile home park where they discovered one person wandering out into traffic while in a highly intoxicated condition. Another person was arrested on outstanding warrants. While being lodged in cells, one of the combatants became very upset, threatening to kill a police officer and his family. He was charged with uttering threats and for being in breach of an undertaking.
On three separate occasions, EPS members were called to a local lounge to intervene in fights and on all three instances, the combatants had departed prior to the arrival of police.
On the night of Nov. 26, EPS members were called to a motor vehicle accident at the corner of Souris Avenue and Seventh Street where a driver had turned a tight corner and dug into a curb that damaged the vehicle's oil pan and radiator.
Police were then called to a local mobile home park based on a report of a home invasion in progress. Two men and a woman had broken into the residence and threatened the occupants with a sledge hammer and knife. They fled the scene as police arrived, but while attempting to leave the area, their vehicle became stuck in a frost fence. The three were taken into custody pending a court appearance.
A report of a young person continually peering into vehicle windows on the night of Nov. 26 led to police attending the area where they located a couple of suspects who they knew were on a curfew order by the courts and who had also been ordered not to have contact with each other. They were therefore arrested and detained in custody pending a court appearance.
On the night of Nov. 28, police attended to a facility in the central part of the city in response to a disturbance call where a knife was used in a threatening manner. EPS members noted there were no injuries and the incident was defused, but an 18-year-old man is now scheduled for a court appearance on Jan. 16 as a result of the incident.
Another report of a disturbance drew police to the north central area of the city that same night. Two individuals were arrested and charged with being intoxicated in public. They were transported to police cells where they were lodged until sober.
