Gun malfunctions in Regina firearm incident

Accused to appear on Monday.

REGINA – While a Regina man did pull the trigger of a gun aimed at another person, thankfully the weapon didn't fire.

The incident occurred on the 900 block of Retallack Street on Wednesday morning, with police arriving around 8:20 a.m.

"Police were advised that a male was in the residence pointing a firearm at the other occupants," said RPS in a media release. "It is alleged that the male pulled the trigger of the firearm while pointed at another person, but the firearm did not successfully fire."

The people in the house tried grabbing the gun from the man, but he fled with the gun in tow.

"Police located the 31 year-old male on the 1000 block of Robinson Street, who was arrested without incident," RPS said. "A search of the male revealed a CO2 pistol."

Landann Augustine Sebastian, 31, appeared in Regina Provincial Court today, facing charges of discharging a firearm with intent, possession of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, and assault with a weapon.

The Crown was opposed to Sebastian's release, and he will make his next court appearance on June 19.
