ASSINIBOIA - The town council for Assiniboia had their first meeting of 2022 on January 11. In attendance were Mayor Sharon Schauenberg; Clint Mauthe, CAO; Kerri Martin; and councilors Robert Ellis, Kent Fettes, Pat Grondin, Graham Harvey, Peter Kordus, and attending by teleconference was Paul Tendler.
Public acknowledgement was given to Assiniboia Times for coverage of the meeting.
The minutes of last council meeting were accepted and adopted as read. Moved by Grondin/Fettes. The minutes of Recreation and Community Wellness, and Prince of Wales board meetings on October 14, November 18 and November 23 were all accepted and were adopted as read. Moved by Ellert/ Grondin.
The following correspondence was accepted and adopted by Grondin/Kordus: Shurniak Greetings 2021; SaskTel InfiNET service; Crime Stoppers request for funding; and Gravelbourg Cares Shuttle.
The CAO reported a very busy January so far and expected February to be the same. He had a very successful meeting with the new rink committee, and reported that progress is going very well. The grand opening date was set for August 20 and first ice set for September 17.
The list of paid accounts accepted and adopted. Moved by Fettes/Grondin.
There was a request for a decision, regarding residential lot consolidation. Private citizens that have purchased multiple lots within the town of Assiniboia have requested consolidation of those lots into one property. This was accepted and passed by council. Moved by Ellert/Kordus.
During council presentations, Mayor Schauenberg commended the planning committee and CurlSask for the tremendous job done on the Provincial Scotties and the very positive comments coming back from the curlers as well as spectators.
Ellert had received several comments on the great job the town crews are doing on snow removal in the town of Assiniboia.
The next scheduled meeting for town council is Tuesday, January 25.
