There is finally some good news when it comes to flooding in Estevan and area.
The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority and SaskPower announced Friday they reduced the flow of water out of the Boundary Dam Reservoir by 30 cubic metres per second Friday morning.
The reduction has lowered the combined outflow from the Rafferty and Boundary Reservoirs from 210 m3/s to roughly 180 m3/s which they expect will start to reduce flooding levels along the Souris River.
The reduction in outflow was possible because inflows to both reservoirs, which had surged because of the recent rainfall, have declined and are expected to continue to decline.
However the SWA did warn that although the water level in the Souris should begin to decrease, the river will remain high for quite awhile.
