ESTEVAN - The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan has suspended Estevan physician Dr. Mehdi Horri for two months for unprofessional conduct.
The suspension, which takes effect Nov. 1, is in response to a charge of breaching the conditions of an undertaking that was levelled by the college back in April.
The college stated Horri was charged with unprofessional conduct "for having a professional encounter with a female patient without a female practice monitor present, as required by his undertaking, and for failing to immediately report the breach of his undertaking to the college.”
Horri’s licence was not suspended when he was charged.
He is still listed as on the registar on the college's website, and the college's report on the ruling is to be released in the coming days.
The college confirmed Horri's suspension in an email to the Mercury.
The physician, who has been practising in Estevan since 2012, was suspended for several weeks during the winter. His licence was reinstated on Feb. 27, but he was limited to providing services within his clinic. He agreed that he would not perform any procedures that require suturing or the use of a scalpel.
He also agreed to have a chaperone present through the entirety of any interactions with female patients, and at the time, measures were put in place to ensure it happens.
