ESTEVAN - Members of the Estevan Police Service conducted check stops on Saturday night, and have also made a number of arrests during the weekend.
Police performed the check stops, looking for impaired drivers. Approximately 250 vehicles were checked and no impaired drivers were located.
Officers attended to a local hotel for a report of a guest on the property who was mistreating staff members. The decision was made by staff that the guest was no longer welcome on the property, and they wanted the assistance of the police to have the guest removed. Police attended and a 44-year-old Weyburn woman was arrested and lodged in cells. She was to be released Sunday morning when sober. She will be charged under the Trespass Act for refusing to leave after being asked to do so by the property owner.
Members received a report of an assault from a local liquor establishment. Police attended and arrested a male for assault. He was lodged in cells over the night, and will be released Sunday morning on conditions of non-contact.
Police also arrested a 40-year-old Estevan woman for breaching her conditional sentence order. She had previously been sentenced to a term of imprisonment, and allowed to serve that sentence in the community if she abides by a number of conditions. She failed to follow the conditions and was arrested. She was remanded into custody and will appear in Estevan Provincial Court for the breach on Feb. 28.
Officers were called to a disturbance at a residence. Police attended and mediated a resolution that enabled the parties to remain in the residence and get along.
Members issued a 60-day suspension Friday to a 17-year-old Carlyle man for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of marijuana. His vehicle was seized as a result of the investigation.
Police arrested a 22-year-old man for being intoxicated and causing a disturbance at a residence. He was lodged in cells and released when sober without any charges.
Members received further reports of attempt frauds. The callers are asking individuals to purchase prepaid credit cards in exchange for winning a motor vehicle. Police remind the public that you don’t have to provide a deposit to receive your winnings on a lottery.
