Egged vehicles, wilful damages attract police attention

A Lampman man has been charged for throwing missiles (eggs) at vehicles following a report that was received by the Estevan Police Service (EPS) on the night of May 6.

Police said they received a call regarding a suspicious vehicle in the 1000 block of First Street. When they arrived, they discovered that a vehicle or vehicles had been egged.

Police were able to track down the suspicious vehicle and laid charges against the man who will appear in court later this month.

EPS members also received a call regarding someone breaking glass in the 1100 block of Fourth Street. When they arrived they arrested a 20-year-old Lampman man for causing wilful damage and for public intoxication. The windows being broken were at City Hall. The man was taken into custody and charged.

A report of a domestic dispute in progress had to be handled by police as well on the night of May 6. As the result of their intervention, a 45-year-old Carlyle woman was arrested for being intoxicated in public. She was lodged in cells for the remainder of the night.

A report of suspected gunshots in the Willow Park Greens area of the city resulted in a police investigation where it was determined that some fireworks were being set off in the area. A 21-year-old Estevan man was charged with setting off fireworks within the city in contravention of the local bylaws.

While doing a patrol within the city, EPS members spotted a 20-year-old Estevan man engaged in a fight in a local convenience store. He was arrested for public intoxication and lodged in cells overnight.

Later in the weekend, EPS members received a call regarding a car that had gone missing overnight from the south side of the city. The vehicle was located a day later parked in the central area of the city. The matter remains under investigation.

Police were sent to the Hillside area of the city in response to reports of missing construction materials. They learned that some lumber and other construction items had been taken from the work site during the night. The police are seeking the public's assistance in their efforts to solve this crime. Anyone with information regarding this theft is asked to contact EPS at 634-4767 or report anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

On the night of May 9, EPS members were called to the east side of the city to investigate a report of a man going through vehicles in the neighbourhood. A 23-year-old male was arrested for being intoxicated in public and lodged in cells overnight. He now has a June court date set to answer to the charges.
