Three people were charged for being in possession of marijuana following an Estevan Police Service (EPS) investigation on Feb. 1.

Two women, aged 18 and 19, as well as a 23-year-old man were charged and now face a court date later this month.

EPS members also reported that during a vehicle check that same day, three men were arrested for being in possession of a controlled substance. Police state that one of the men was a known drug trafficker. He was charged for being in possession of a quantity of marijuana and cocaine.

A vehicle was seized during the arrest along with a quantity of cash identified as being the proceeds of crime.

On the night of Feb. 3, EPS members responded to a report of a group of people who were refusing to leave a licensed outlet after being asked to do so.

When police arrived, it was noted that the people in question were outside the premises so police conducted a check of the group and discovered that two of them had outstanding warrants issued against them, so they were arrested. One was later released with a scheduled court date in March and the other was held in custody pending a Feb. 6 court appearance.

When police responded to a report of the possibility of a group of people consuming drugs in a vehicle, police responded and carried out a check of the vehicle. When they concluded the search, no charges were laid, but one intoxicated man was arrested for interfering with a police investigation and for being intoxicated in public. He was held in custody overnight.

On that same night, EPS members carried out a check on another vehicle and its occupants on the east side of the city.

When the driver of the vehicle refused to co-operate with police by providing a breath sample for a road-side analysis, he was arrested. The 34-year-old Calgary man was lodged in cells overnight and is now scheduled to appear in court later this month to answer to the charges.

On the night of Feb. 4 and early morning hours of Feb. 5, an intoxicated man was spotted wandering on the streets of the city. Police conducted a check on the individual and noted that he was also out of custody on certain conditions so they arrested him and lodged him in cells until he regained sobriety. He now faces charges of breaching the conditions he had been placed under by the court and will answer to those charges when he makes a court appearance in March.
