Drive-in the night away with Justin LaBrash and True North

Update: Concert location at the Assiniboia Fairgrounds is confirmed

Great West Auto Electric/Bumper to Bumper, Cat Country, the Assiniboia Times and Farm Life, are proud to present Drive-In the Night Away on August 20 in Assiniboia.

The concert is spearheaded by Leanne Tuntland-Wiebe, one of the owners of GWAE, with Curtis Nelson of Nelson GM – who is doing the ground work, along with the Assiniboia Kinsmen and the staff at Great West Auto Electric.

The concert location has now been confirmed as of August 12: Justin LaBrash and True North will perform in a drive-in setting at the Assiniboia Fairgrounds. Gates will open at 7 p.m. and the concert will begin at 8 p.m. FM transmitters will broadcast the signal into each of the participant’s vehicles.

The past few months have been very concerning for everyone, who have stayed at home to protect loved ones.

With very little to do for the summer, Great West Electric and friends jumped on the opportunity to bring Justin LaBrash into Assiniboia, when they found out he was doing drive-in concerts around the south.

This young man from Lumsden is well on his way to becoming a sensation in Canada.

His original penned songs are featured on radio stations and now Assiniboians get to hear him play live and in-person.

This is a free family event and a volunteer fundraiser for the Assiniboia and District Recreation Complex Project.

Donations will be gladly accepted at the entrance to the concert or in labelled donation buckets.

Great West Electric were asked why they we’re doing this concert.

Tuntland-Wiebe responded, “Because we can and we want to do it for the community, who gives us amazing support.â€Â

Going forward, with any luck, this will become an annual event.
