A report of a missing 16-year-old girl was received by Estevan Police Service on July 21. The family had noted that the girl had not been seen since 10:30 the previous evening so EPS members set up an investigation that revealed the girl's whereabouts and the fact that she was safe, so the investigation was concluded with no further action required by police. A willful damage incident at Pleasantdale School was reported to police who placed the matter under investigation, while a break and enter incident in the central part of the city also remains under investigation. Two young offenders who committed several acts of vandalism and thefts from vehicles in the city during a minor crime spree this summer, have been charged and made their court appearance this week. (See related article in this week's edition). A 21-year-old Bienfait man was charged with impaired driving and driving while his blood-alcohol content was over .08 per cent on the night of July 21. Two male passengers in the vehicle were also arrested for being intoxicated and were lodged in cells overnight. On the night of July 23, a 22-year-old Regina man was arrested for causing a disturbance and for being intoxicated in a public place when he was picked up by police from the front of a local lounge. He was lodged in cells until sober. A 19-year-old Alberta man who was involved in a physical altercation outside a local lounge was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital by members of the Estevan Police Service. He received some medical treatment before being taken to his residence. A 34-year-old Estevan man was arrested for impaired driving and for driving while over .08 on the night of July 23. After being processed and given a court date, he was released into the care of a family member. A 25-year-old Prince Albert man was also arrested for being over .08 that same evening. He was charged and released into the care of a friend after the processing paperwork was completed. EPS members were called to the scenes of several fights that had broken out outside a local lounge but in each instance the people involved in the events had departed prior to police arrival. But on that same night, EPS members responded to a report of a fight outside a local convenience store where they found one person who had been involved in the fracas. That person refused to identify the other party involved in the incident and since no other witnesses came forward, police concluded the matter without any further action. A report of a dispute between a couple of roommates that led to a physical altercation and some damage to property was responded to by members of the EPS. The incident was reported on the night of July 23. A two-vehicle accident that occurred around 8 p.m. on July 26 has led to charges being laid by members of the EPS. The report stated that a vehicle entering Perkins Avenue off the Petro-Canada lot struck a westbound vehicle on Perkins. Both vehicles suffered extensive damages and had to be towed from the scene. The driver of the vehicle that was attempting to enter Perkins Avenue suffered an upper body injury. She was also charged for failing to yield to oncoming traffic when entering onto a highway under the Traffic Safety Act.
