YORKTON - An filmmaker who hails from Estevan has had a couple of his projects selected for the upcoming Yorkton Film Festival.

Curtis McGillivray announced on the Facebook page for Prairie View Productions that two of their projects from last year have been nominated. The Moose Whisperer has been picked for Best Community Television Production and Together Forever In The Clouds has been chosen for the Ruth Shaw Award for Best of Saskatchewan.

“This is such amazing news and we are so honored to be nominated with the other filmmakers of this province,” McGillivray wrote on Prairie View Productions’ Facebook page.

“Both of these projects hold a special place in my heart and I feel blessed to have been able to create them and be a part of them over the past year. We look forward to attending the Yorkton Film Festival this May and will have our fingers crossed for awards night but it’s the memories and experiences tied to these productions that we will cherish forever.”

McGillivray is listed as the director and producer for the Moose Whisperer.

For Together Forever in the Clouds, he is listed as the director and a producer, alongside Marie Donais Calder, Lois Wilson, Wayne Younghusband and Allison Holzer. The latter four individuals have been involved with an effort to commemorate the 21 airmen killed in an RCAF plane crash south of Estevan in 1946, and the documentary honours the airmen.

The selections for the festival were announced Friday. The festival, which started in 1947, will run from May 25-27.
