Weyburn General Hospital

An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared by the Saskathewan Health Authority at the Weyburn General Hospital as of Dec. 29, in addition to the outbreak at the Weyburn Special Care Home.

No details have been provided about the outbreak at the hospital, other than it occurred on the third floor of the facility.

As of Dec. 29 also, there were six COVID cases reported at the Special Care Home of residents and staff members. The outbreak was first declared on Dec. 27.

The SHA will maintain the status of an outbreak until it has been declared over by an SHA medical health officer.

The declaration of a COVID-19 outbreak is used by Public Health to mobilize and coordinate a response to the infection. It is not necessarily an indicator of risk to the public. Public advisories will always be issued when there is a risk to the public.
