Construction values boosted by theatre renovations

City Hall has issued 20 permits worth $13.77 million.

MOOSE JAW — Building permit values for the first five months of this year were up by 11.8 per cent from 2023.

City hall has issued 20 permits worth $13.77 million this year, an increase from $12.31 million for last year.

In May permit values of $2.26 million were about half of last May’s $4.46 million.

The largest permit in May was $800,000 for alterations to the Mae Wilson Theatre building.

A permit for $267,000 will see improvements to the Quality Inn in Grayson Park while a $250,000 permit was issued for a storage building for a grease manufacturer on Snyder Road in Grayson Park.

Only one single family home and a two-unit residence were started.

To date the city has issued nine dwelling permits for 36 units compared with three single family units last year.

Housing construction values of $8.1 million compare with just under $1 million in the first five months of 2023.
