Communities in Bloom promotes "smart shopping" with Reusable Bag Week

The Communities in Bloom (CiB) committee held a Reusable Bag Week from May 31 to June 4 in Weyburn to promote the use of reusable shopping bags over disposable plastic and paper bags.

(L-R) Member of the Communities in Bloom (CiB) committee Nancy Styles presented a bag of "green" goodies to Lavica Mahnke, while Pat Anderson was presented a similar gift bag from CiB president Donna Hastings on June 15. Mahnke accepted the prize on behalf of her daughter-in-law, Lois Mahnke of Lampman.

The Communities in Bloom (CiB) committee held a Reusable Bag Week from May 31 to June 4 in Weyburn to promote the use of reusable shopping bags over disposable plastic and paper bags. During the week, those found using reusable bags could enter their names for a prize at participating businesses. Lois Mahnke and Pat Anderson were the winners of the CiB bags filled with a variety of environmentally friendly products. CiB also handed-out several of the CiB cloth bags during the week to residents found using reusable bags.
