Lynn Chipley and Chris Istace led the way when it came to attendance for the members of Estevan city council in 2011.
The two councillors both missed just one meeting in 2011, according to information provided by the City of Estevan. Each year the City is required to advertise the council attendance figures after council voted to accept the recommendations of a committee that decided whether or not they should receive a raise.
The report takes into account regular open meetings of council as well as committee meetings, which are not open to the public, and budget meetings that were held in November.
Chipley was absent during one open meeting in May for vacation while Istace missed a budget meeting for work reasons.
Right behind Istace and Chipley in terms of attendance were Mayor Gary St. Onge and Councillors Dennis Moore and Brian Johnson. The report shows that the three men each missed just two meetings for vacation purposes.
Councillor Roy Ludwig missed eight meetings in 2011, all of them for vacation according to the report.
Rookie council member Rodney Beatty had the distinction of missing the most meetings for the second straight year after being absent 14 of 35 meetings in 2011. The report noted that Beatty was sick for seven meetings, missed three for vacation, two for work purposes and was absent for two others.
